Culture Shock in Las Vegas

Culture shock in Las Vegas is appropriately described by University of Neveda, Las Vegas. According to them, culture shock in Las Vegas can be described in four points. Culture shock is basically a shock which one receives when one reaches a new or unknown place. The four basic phases or points put forward by University of Neveda includes:

The first phase is actually the excitement phase. Here you will find no major difference between your original place of stay and your new place of stay.

In the second phase you will start realizing the differences between the new place and your old place of stay. This phase is dominated by depression, anger, irritation, frustration and others. You will feel homesickness. There will be a tendency that you will only speak and associate yourself with the people of US.

The third phase is the phase of adjustment. In this phase, slowly and gradually you will start accepting the dissimilarities of the place and accustom yourself with them. You will start identifying the cultural difference and adapt yourself to the place.

The fourth phase is called biculturalism. Here you will be able to completely identify yourself with the new culture and also keep in mind the old culture. You will be confident enough to identify and adapt yourself to both the cultures. When you again return back to your homeland from here you will get another sort of cultural shock which is known as return cultural shock.

Speaking of culture shock in Las Vegas, you have to speak about the various ethnic markets that can be found there. Ethnic markets are a sort of social club or social group for a particular community. Here you can find various kinds of items relating to their culture. These include food items, CDs of various blockbusters and other films, music CD and a lot more.

There is an International Marketplace in Las Vegas which is actually the father of all the ethnic market places. Other than this, there are Indian Market and the Mediterranean Gourmet Market. These two markets provides you with various kinds of items related to the particular culture.
